Priyadarshini Indira Degree College was established in 1990 with a vision to provide a quality education for the people of Junagarh and its adjoining areas in general. The tag line of this organization is “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” It is located in Junagarh. This college is a first level Degree College with the highest academic standards, various academic programme, great faculty, and various co-curricular activities with modern infrastructure.
This college emerged in 1985 with the best efforts of the local eminent educationists like Trilochan Singh, Manikchand Agrawal, Devi Prasad Sahoo, Arta Trana Naik, Bikram Keshari Deo, Krushna Chandra Panda, Bed Prakash Goel, Maheswar Barad, Damodar Sahoo and many more in a disguised form. It started functioning on 1st June 1990 Sj. Bibhuti Bhusan Panda took the charge of Principal for the better function of the Institution. He stood as the pillars of this institution to bring it in a educational streamline. On the 1st June 1990, it got permission to start +3 Arts wing and on the same day got its recognition by Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha and affiliated to Sambalpur University and having Honours subjects with Odia, Education, Economics, Political Science and History. By the passage of time this college opened its +3 Science wing having Honours with Physics, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Mathematics from 2017-18. This college is imparting the best education to its adjoining areas as a result, its strength going up till date. It has come across many ups and downs yet it stands still and encourages the students, the future of this institution by its positive thought “Prepare for the worst and aspire for the best”.
